How should Year 12 students use the summer before an Oxbridge application?

Why does the summer matter so much for Oxbridge?

Count backwards from 15 October. UCAS opens for submissions on 1 September 2026. Schools need time for references and predicted grades early in the autumn term, and admissions tests cluster in the weeks around the deadline. A student who arrives in September with a statement already through several drafts spends the autumn refining and preparing for tests and interviews; a student starting from zero spends it firefighting.

What should be drafted before September?

Two or three things engaged with deeply beat a long list every time — the interview question is never "what did you read?" but "what did you make of it?"
